Rotala Wallichii
Rotala wallichii is a delicate and visually stunning stem plant prized by aquascapers for its fine, needle-like leaves and beautiful pinkish-red colouration. When grown under the right conditions, it forms graceful, feathery stems that sway gently in the current — creating a truly mesmerising effect in any planted aquarium.
This plant is best suited to aquarists with some experience, as it rewards careful attention to lighting and water quality with spectacular results. It's a popular choice for Nature Aquarium and Dutch-style aquascapes.
Care Guide
- pH: 5.5 – 7.5
- Temperature: 20°C – 30°C
- Lighting: Medium to high (essential for vibrant colour)
- Growth Rate: Moderate
- Placement: Mid to background
- CO₂: Highly recommended for best growth and colour
Regular trimming encourages dense, bushy growth and prevents the lower stems from becoming bare. Liquid fertiliser and CO₂ supplementation will bring out the most vivid pink and red tones in the foliage.
